My Sandals Trip, March 2018
Sandals South Coast, Jamaica
My last day in Jamaica started with breakfast with a fellow agent I met on this trip from the USA. We ordered room service so we could sit on my room balcony to enjoy the view! The food and beverages showed up right at the time we had ordered them for and everything was lovely and fresh. After breakfast we were ready to head out across the island by bus to visit the sexy Sandals South Coast (White House)!
The hour and a half bus trip took us through down town Montego Bay and then up in to the mountains of Jamaica. It was a bit of a bumpy in ride in places but the scenery along the way through the jungle and hills was spectacular. Descending down the other side we arrived at Sandals South Coast and were greeted by the friendly staff, given a delicious welcome cocktail and were shown in to the beautiful lobby to start our tour of the resort.
The first thing I noticed as you pass through the beautiful lobby and step outside, is how open and spacious this resort feels. Sandals South Coast is the biggest of the Sandals resorts I visited here and is set along a beautiful stretch of unbroken white sand beach, but again it didn't feel too big and was not crowded at all. If you are a beach lover and are looking for a place where you can stroll along the surf then this resort will be perfect for you. The resort is located on a land point and so is surrounded by water on 3 sides, ALL rooms have an ocean view and because of it's unique layout no area is far from another.
The resort has a European / Mediterranean feel with it's pretty palazzo floors and pastel buildings. Each section of accommodation (The Italian Village, The Dutch Village and the French Village) all have their own pool area with the Dutch Village being a quiet zone for those who prefer an area with no music, just the sounds of the ocean steps away! The main pool with swim up bar is the largest in Jamaica and is the impressive focal centre to the main part of the resort, this is where you will find all the main restaurants and bars unique to Sandals. Dotted with fountains, seating nooks, fire-pits and peacocks roaming the grounds, there is always something new to discover here.
The Red Lane Spa at Sandals South Coast is a true paradise nestled in the middle of the resort. With its own private garden, hot and cold plunge pool and private rooms for massages and treatments all perfectly designed for indulgence and rejuvenation, this is the spa of spas in Jamaica! You can also book a a massage in one of the beach side cabanas.
Like all Sandals Resorts, there are many level of room categories to choose from for your stay, but at Sandals South Coast all rooms have a beach front ocean view! The rooms we got to look in all had a light, bright and elegant decor look along with the signature dark wood mahogany furniture.
If you want to know more about the different room categories and what they include I would be happy to talk with you about which options best fits you!
The top of the list for room categories is the exclusive and pretty much brand spanking new, over water bungalows. Unlike Sandals Royal Caribbean these luxury private suites are accessible by a board walk from the main land, though still with their own security office which you have to check in at, you cannot go out to the bungalows if you are not staying in one. Those staying in the bungalows here also have their own private beach and white cabana for exclusive use. The water is crystal clear and you can see fish swimming around through the glass floor and off your own private balcony. With your own butlers to take care of your every need you will never want to leave!
The other over water feature at this resort is Latitudes bar. Surrounded by 8 large hammocks this is a fun and funky hangout. I got a few minutes to try out the hammock which was very comfortable (though a bit of a giggle to get down on!) The view and service are second to none making this a must visit spot!
If you are thinking of a Destination Wedding, Sandals South Coast really is the perfect choice. Their over water chapel offers a small private, intimate spot for a ceremony that will blow you and your guests away. How many people can say their aisle was a glass floor over the Caribbean sea and their back drop one of the most beautiful beaches and resorts?!
